(This post is quit long, the english part is at the bottom :o) )
Salut!
Exemple 1 : Bad Bitch Cosmetics
"But as for our products, we use neither carmine or silk powder in any of our colors, so ours are
definitely all vegan. :D"
"**Please note that this particular color contains carmine and is, therefore, not classified as vegan. However, we make loads of colors that are vegan friendly, so please check individual ingredient information to ensure that you're getting what you want. Thanks!** "
Merci!
...
Exemple 2 : Jelly Pong Pong
Beaucoup plus simple, ils clament sur leur site (About us/Product philosophy):
"Our Integrity Commitment™ ensures we do not use anything that can be
potentially damaging like sulfates, pthalates, triclosan, ammonia, alcohol and any animal by-products. More than that, our manufacturing plants are
environmentally-conscious and cruelty-free."
"Thanks for writing in. No, we are not a vegan cosmetics line, nowhere in our philosophy or brand message do we express this. We use animal by-products that do not harm the animals or insects in its extraction, like beeswax, honey and milk fats."
Hello!
I'm not usually really fussy about words definition (mostly because myself I don't always use them in the right way, specially when speaking in english >_<), but I do think that when it comes about products made to be sold and that can directly act on one's health/belief, it's important to know their meaning!
Since I started this blog, I already came across 3 brands claiming themselves "vegan" and turned to be not...
Short veganism definition (from Wikipedia) : Veganism is the
practice of abstaining from the use of animal products.
Applied here, it means that "vegan" cosmetics should not contain animal-by products.
Exemple 1 : Bad Bitch Cosmetics
When I first discoverd the brand, I liked the colours, and sent them a message to know about what kind of ingredients they used. Here's the answer :
"But as for our products, we use
neither carmine or silk powder in any of our colors, so ours are definitely all vegan. :D"
So I ordered some colours I liked (and I'm actually satisfied with them!)
SOme times after this, looking for another order I was browsing the website and came across the Barracuda eye-shadow that I already spotted before but without going further. So I get to the description and what was here? :
**Please note that this particular color contains carmine and is, therefore, not classified as vegan. However, we make loads of colors that are vegan friendly, so please check individual ingredient information to ensure that you're getting what you want. Thanks!**

Even simplier, they claim on their website (About us/Product philosophy):
Our Integrity Commitment™ ensures we do not use anything that can be potentially damaging likesulfates, pthalates, triclosan, ammonia, alcohol and any animal
by-products. More than that, our manufacturing plants are environmentally-conscious and cruelty-free.
Ok, no animal-by products, so why is there milk in some products?
Sent them a mail, get their answer :
"Thanks for writing in. No, we are not a vegan cosmetics line, nowhere in our philosophy or brand message do we express this. We use animal by-products that do not harm the animals or insects in its extraction, like beeswax, honey and milk fats."
